This series has got around a bit on StumbleUpon today, and it seems to have caused an upset to those stumblers, who consider themselves, “long time loyal stumblers“, and “only there to have fun“. I received a few emails stating, “please stop spamming the system, or we will be reporting you“. Well, in my opinion, the game of poker is meant to have fun, but there are many that analyze the game, to take up a greater challenge, and I see stumbleupon no different.

StumbleUpon users are there for several reasons such as:

  • Just Have Fun
  • Learn About New Sites
  • Network With Other People
  • Network With Other Bloggers
  • Become A Top Stumbler
  • Promote A Certain Topic
  • Game The System
  • Spam The System

Let me make my point on what this series is really about.

I am not here to “SPAM” StumbleUpon. I am simply here to dissect StumbleUpon from top to bottom, so that I can use StumbleUpon to its maximum benefit. I want to use stumbleupon to promote the articles that I, and my fans, really enjoy. I do not plan on Stumbling all my own articles, and provide no value to the users. I plan to use StumbleUpon as a conduit, to meeting other bloggers with similar interests as mine, and hopefully create a tightly niche group of stumblers, that will spread the word, of educational articles, we spend so many hours writing.

Top Stumblers

This is no different then what any “Top Stumbler” does. If what I plan on doing, is considered gaming the system, or spamming, then every Top Stumbler should be banned. The reason being is, they have a clear idea of how the StumbleUpon system works, and they manipulate it every day to their advantage. To push and promote the articles they see fit. I would say that is gaming the system. Much more than learning how to properly, and accurately, use the StumbleUpon service.

StumbleUpon gave us the tools, and pages they want us to use. They created a Terms Of Service (TOS) to keep us in line. Now it is up to us, the users, to self educate, and apply how best to use the system, for our industries.
